We’re proud of our Team Canada Junior and Senior Ringette Teams, especially Jennica Murray, Rachel Ung, Madison Bonsel, Shaundra Bruvall and former Calgary AA/RATHlete Christianne Varty.
Travelling for training camps is complete; our athletes continue their weekly training locally, and hit the ice playing with the Calgary RATH (Christianne plays with the NRL Waterloo Wildfire).
Check back for updates, as they gear up to compete in the upcoming World Ringette Championships (WRCs) on November 27-December 3, 2017, in Mississauga, Ontario. Last year, the WRCs took place in Helsinki, Finland.

We’re AA Ringette, and we thrive on competition. But our season-opening exhibition series was a great opportunity to demonstrate that we’re all Friends First in support of sister teams, opponents, and our community that brings it all together.
Whether it’s the traditional post-game hand shake or Edmonton Elite’s beautiful support of our lost member, Jenna, we appreciate our chance to play and build friendships while playing the fastest game on ice.
Please see our Friends First page throughout the season for info, photos and updates.

The march is on to upcoming 2017 World Ringette Championships in Mississauga, ON from November 27 to December 3. Team Canada has organized a 5K Run/Walk fundraiser to be held in the fall at locations across Canada. In Calgary, this event will be held on October 7, 2017. All funds raised will go to National Team athletes to help offset the costs.
Help support our Senior and Junior National Team athletes representing Canada at the Worlds: Shaundra Bruvall, Madison Bonsel, Rachel Ung and Jennica Murray!
It’s a great opportunity for Calgary AA and our ringette community to come together to celebrate being part of the awesome sport we all love. We’re hoping that local ringette associations will encourage all players, their parents, siblings and friends to attend. Coaches can use it as a team building event!
The Running Room is helping to facilitate the success of the Calgary Run. Registration will take place online through the Running Room website:

Thank you, look forward to seeing you there.
On Sunday, September 10, 2017, well over 200 of us came to North Glenmore Park and the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope in support of the Sauer family. Very well organized by Veronica Day (and many others who helped), Calgary AA, the Ringette Community, and friends and family came together wearing pink Team Jenna shirts or white hats to herald this important cause.
Dad, Leigh Sauer, gave a poignant and touching speech on behalf of his daughter Jenna and their story. It was a reminder to all of us how precious life is, and the hole left behind when we lose a member of our family and community. He reminded us that the hole should be filled with love, support and hope to one day find a cure. Mayor Nenshi also spoke about the importance of community and pulling together.
Thank you to everyone who came, supported or donated.
While our Calgary athletes are putting the blades to ice for tryouts this week, our Junior National Ringette Team Canada came together in Sherwood Park for the Labour Day Long weekend. Training hard, raising funds, greeting aspiring ringette players—gearing up for the World Championships in Mississauga (November).
Here are some great photos. Thank you to Sherwood Park Ringette (@SPRA_Ringette) and their young athletes for hosting a BBQ. Remember to sign up for the Road to Worlds 5K Fundraiser in Calgary on October 7—we would love to see you there!
The Calgary AA Ringette Community is deeply saddened this week with the passing of one of our players, Jenna Sauer.
Throughout her illness, Jenna was an outstanding example of positivity and perseverance to so many people, including her U19 teammates, the U14 players she coached, and the ringette players and families within and beyond our city’s borders. Her positive attitude and her beautiful smile will be missed at the rink. Calgary AA Ringette sends our condolences to the Sauer family.
Jenna’s funeral service will be held this Saturday, July 29, 2017. Please follow the link for more information: Jenna Sauer Remembered

Here’s a story about more Calgary AA off-season antics—but this time, it’s a few of our Ringette Dads skipping out on beach-time to bring community support in Los Cabos, Mexico. Please read about their contribution and info below. Thank-you for sharing, you guys make us proud! For more great photos, please see our Community Involvement page.
CALGARY AA RINGETTE HITS MEXICO! Well sort of…
For a few years now, a group of Calgary AA Ringette Dads have been hitting Los Cabos, Mexico, after ringette season for some R&R. This last trip—we got off the beaten trail and hooked up with a local charity group, Feed Los Cabos Kids (www.feedingloscaboskids.org), to help feed some of the local kids. It’s a very different world out there once you get away from the resorts and restaurants, and see what these kids and families deal with on a daily basis. Just getting food on the table is a challenge.
Just like our athletes, these kids were full of energy and ready to ‘play.’ What better way than a little Minute to Win It, and you can probably guess what game we played! If any of you are in the Cabo area, we encourage you to consider contacting this great organization. It’s a few hours of your time and the experience is very rewarding. Bring your cookies, smarties, ping-pong balls and any other Minute To Win It games you can think of. Crazy fun!

Hello Ringette Calgary. I hope all is well with you and your families. As you are all well aware, I was lucky enough to have my life impacted by Meghan Bomford who passed away in a tragic motor vehicle accident on October 18, 2016 at 17 years old. I would like to personally invite you to join us in a 24-hour continuous game of ringette, in support of the late Meghan Bomford and specifically the scholarship in her name. Please have a look at the press release attached or visit www.westernringette.com or our facebook page for more information and a video about the event.
I trust you can help spread the word and help make this an amazingly successful 24 hours of fun, entertainment, support and ringette.
More information will be posted on our Facebook page moving forward.
Thank you for your assistance and compassion.
