Mandatory Equipment Update

2025-26 SEASON UPDATE

Ringette Canada equipment policy effective Sept 1, 2025 for the 2025-26 season:

• Shoulder pads (hard shell shoulder capped) are mandatory for all U19 and below age groups. Shoulder pads were already mandatory for our athletes as per AA Ringette Calgary and Ringette Calgary policies announced last season as detailed below, so shoulder pads must be worn during our Fall Tryouts.
• Proper ringette gloves are mandatory for all age groups. Lacrosse gloves are no longer permitted as of Sept 1. We require athletes to wear proper ringette gloves at our Fall Tryouts and be ready for the Sept 1 effective date.

AUGUST 2024:

Over the last two seasons, AA Ringette Calgary and other Zone 3 and Zone 2 ringette associations have partnered with the University of Calgary Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre to collect data about the frequency and type of injuries incurred during ringette activities. Promoting athlete safety and injury prevention is a priority, permitting maximum participation throughout the season but also with benefits for their long term health.

On January 24 2024, the AA Ringette Calgary Committee passed a motion to mandate that all U14-U19 athletes wear shoulder pads/protectors, effective August 2024. Details are available under the 'AA Committee Meeting Minutes'.

On June 12, 2024, the Ringette Calgary Board of Directors voted to approve a mandatory shoulder pad policy that will be effective immediately.  For more information please see Ringette Calgary's Mandatory Shoulder Pad Policy.
