Registration for our fall tryouts will open on June 1st. Only those athletes that are registered with AA Ringette Calgary for our fall tryouts will be considered — please don’t miss the closing date for tryout registrations! For more information about registering for tryouts, please refer to our Registration page.
- Tryout locations may include: Huntington Hills, Great Plains, NESS
- Separate tryouts will be held for each of the U14AA, U16AA and U19AA divisions.
- For U14AA, we welcome all athletes interested in our program and tryout process.
- At the U16AA and U19AA levels, out of respect for our tryout process, athletes should only attend tryouts if they are fully ready to commit to the AA Ringette program.
- Shoulder pads are mandatory for all minor U19 and below age divisions as of August 2024. Athletes without shoulder pads will not be allowed on the ice for their tryout. For more information, please Ringette Calgary's Mandatory Shoulder Pad Policy.
- Please remember to also register with your home ringette community association for the upcoming season.
TEAM FORMATION
For the upcoming season, AA Ringette Calgary will be forming teams to meet the AA program goals and deliver a rich experience for our athletes. Team sizes are pending approval of Ringette Calgary but are also subject to change based on the number of registrants and tryouts. We will post our approved team sizes and goalie numbers as soon as we receive confirmation.
TRYOUT ICE SCHEDULE
- Our tryout ice schedule will be posted later in August. Once posted, please refer to the schedule for your possible dates, times, and locations.
- NOTE: The schedule is subject to change, so please check back regularly.
- After tryout registration closes and just prior to the start of tryout sessions, the specific ice times will be emailed to you by the Head Coaches from your division.
TRYOUT FORMAT
- During tryout sessions, players will participate in drills and scrimmages. Players are given equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills in skating, ring control, ringette sense, knowledge of the game, competitive drive, and sportsmanship. All players will perform the same drills.
- All U14, U16 and U19 athletes will have a minimum of 3 tryout ice times in the first round.
- U14 athletes will receive an additional ice time in the first round to complete the Universal Athlete Assessment testing.
- After the first round of ice times, prospective AA athletes will be selected to move forward to the second round of tryout ice times. Names of those athletes selected to move to the second round will be posted on our website and the next ice times will be emailed to you by the Head Coaches from your division.
- Following the conclusion of the second round of ice times, final team selection will occur by draft and the team rosters will be posted on our website.
- If a player will miss tryouts because of illness, injury, or family emergency, but still wishes to be eligible for selection, please review and complete the Medical Exemption from Tryouts - Policy and Form prior to the start of tryout sessions.
DIVISION COORDINATORS
There will be some opportunity to ask questions of Division Coordinators and AA Ringette Calgary representatives during tryouts. Division Coordinators will be available at the arenas. We respectfully request that questions be directed to the Division Coordinators and not the Coaches or Evaluators during this process.
PARENT MEETING
AA Ringette Calgary will host a parent meeting for U14AA and for U16AA & U19AA prior to tryouts. Watch for dates to be posted. In the meantime, please see the links below to watch a recording of the sessions from last season.
