Attack wins Silver
Jan 19-21: U16AA Strike, Attack and Peak welcomed teams from across Canada to the 38th Annual Esso Golden Ring Tournament. Attack went undefeated in round robin play claiming top spot in the Red Pool and earning themselves a spot in the Sunday semi finals. Strike ran into stiff competition from Rive Sud and Central Alberta but managed to take second in their pool setting the stage for a head to head battle against Attack on Sunday morning. In the semi's Strike proved the better team on the day, edging out their sister team and earning a spot in the final against New Brunswick, who narrowly defeated Rive Sud in the other semi final. In the final, Strike jumped out to an early lead and held off a late charging New Brunswick team to take the Gold. Congratulations on the big win!!

January 5-7 — U16AA Peak and Strike headed north to Red Deer to compete in the annual Friends on Ice tournament. With only four teams in the mix, each game proved important to ensure a birth in the Sunday final. Both Peak and Strike played well winning their games against Central Alberta and Spruce Grove with Strike getting the better of their sister team Peak in round robin play. In the final, Peak got redemption, beating out Strike to take the gold.

December 1-3 — U16AA Teams Strike, Peak and Attack journeyed north to Leduc to compete in the annual Edmonton Wood Tournament. All teams fought hard through intense pool play with Peak and Strike finishing first in their respective pools. In the semi's, Peak proved to be the stronger team on the day beating their sister team, Attack, and earning a spot in the finals against Strike, who knocked off Edmonton in the other semi final. The final was an edge of you seat nail biter with Peak edging out Strike for the gold. In the Bronze medal game, Attack played a hard checking game against Edmonton but came up one goal short at the final horn. Congrats to all three teams for a strong performance.

November 10-12 — U16AA Teams Peak and Attack journeyed into beautiful Big Sky Country to do battle with 6 other teams from across western and central Canada. Both teams fought hard through intense pool play with Attack finishing second in their pool, earning a spot in the A-Side semi-finals. In the semi's, Attack proved to be the stronger team, beating Central Alberta Sting and earning a spot in the finals against Edmonton. The final was a tight checking affair with Attack edging out Edmonton for the gold. On the B-Side, Peak won their semi-final against St. Albert setting up a final against the home town Saskatoon Selects. In the final, Peak flexed their scoring muscle earning them the win - a great weekend of ringette!
