Congratulations to Rachael McKerracher, this years recipient of the Jenna Sauer Spirit in Coaching Award. Rachael is the first recipient of the award who was actually coached by Jenna in her playing days. This year Rachael was an Assistant Coach for U14AA Blue. Rachael has an incredible ability to bond and connect with all the athletes she coaches. As one parent wrote "Rachael took the players under her wing and treated them like family". Throughout the year she went above and beyond organizing off-ice team building activities, planning the Team retreat at the start of the year, riding the bus to Saskatoon with the team, and organizing lots of team events at the hotels during tournaments. Rachael was a positive influence on the bench, and able to stay calm in high pressure situations. When a difficult situation arose within the team, Rachael was willing to get involved and help resolve things when required. If an athlete had a tough game, or was feeling down after a game, Rachael would be the one to give the athlete the support and encouragement that she needed. There are few people in this world who are more selfless and kind-hearted than Rachael.
