Advancing to Provincials and Nationals — U16AA Surge and Shock

February 2-4 — West to the ocean for this exciting seven-team tourney. How often do you stay in a hotel that’s only steps from the arena? The location and spring-like weather agreed with U16AA Shock as they battled through to the final match to face the Saskatoon Selects—end-to-end action finished with Shock claiming Gold. Way to go!

January 19-21 — First up in the New Year, a home-base tournament, the largest in the world! The 32nd EGRT proves that ringette is a first-class sport, with thrilling competition and nail-biting games. Our U16AA teams battled hard in this 12-team tourney. Surge made it to the Final match with Regina Stingers and gave it their all, winning Silver. Great work, congrats!

December 15-17 — A snap road trip to Lacombe/Red Deer for this seasonal tourney (no snow this year!). Our U16AA teams brought their holiday spirit and ringette moxie through three RR games all the way into the finals. Shock won Gold and Riot claimed Silver in a thrilling matchup, and Surge took Bronze in their final against Central AB Sting. A great showing for our sister teams, congrats!

December 1-3 — On a jet plane east: Our U16AA Shock attended this eight-team tourney, which ran alongside the 2017 WRCs. Inspired by the intensity of our Junior and Senior Team Canada athletes, Shock dug in and came through 4 RRs and a semi-final, to claim Gold against the U16AA Guelph Predators. For the 2017 WRCs, congrats to our Juniors for their Gold, and the Seniors who claimed Silver against exceptional Finland teams. An exciting world-class ringette event weekend, and proud outcome.

U16AA Calgary Shock Together with Guelph Predators
November 24-26 — On the road straight north: Teams U16AA Riot and Surge played hard through four games of RR and then the final match with each other. With ten teams in their division, they came through for Calgary AA, with Riot claiming Gold and Surge taking Silver in a close game. Great effort!

November 10-12 — On the road and on the bus: Teams U16AA Riot and Surge made the journey, with eight teams in their division. Accepting the challenge, our teams took it all the way to the Gold Medal match, with Riot claiming Gold and Surge taking Silver. Sister teams and great competition to represent Calgary AA, congrats!
